Farmers Union Canal Trail East

For my first trail post I’m going to share a short little section of trail I discovered recently, running alongside the Farmer’s Union Canal in Star, ID, and trying to stay off gated property.

This trail was littered in spent shotgun shells, so needless to say I stepped up the pace at times for fear of my safety. Nothing came of it though, I’m still here to write about it! I even made a little game of counting the different colours of shells, in this run Team Red won, 8-4-1. Another note about this trail, and the other section I will write about soon, is that they’re FULL of goat-heads. I spent a good 15 mins pulling them out with pliers after the run.

And here’s the second portion of the trail running west alongside the Farmer’s Union Canal in Star, ID, and trying to stay off gated property.

This trail too was littered in spent shotgun shells and goatheads, but was longer than going east, mainly due to winding up and back on itself a bit more. Like the other portion of Farmer’s Union Canal trail, it’s worth running once or twice but not something that’s necessarily worth the journey out that way from town (unless of course you live out there, then it’s basically in your back yard!)
